When on the water… your casting abilities should not be your limitation.

If you haven’t casted for a while or are new to flyfishing, come and join us in a casting practice session on 15 April at the Baseball field in Valhalla. 08h30 for 09h00-13h00. RSVP by COB 12 April please. Numbers are limited.
This is also a great opportunity to meet and greet if you are a newcomer to the club.
It will be mainly a newbie/beginner/refresher. A Good opportunity to enforce the Basics of Casting as casting errors usually have their origins in the basics… fix from the ground up!
Proposed program for the day:
- Rig up and warmup 08h30
- Safety brief: 09h00
- 3 x1 hr sessions of instruction and practice
- How to make a loop.
- 5 Essentials, Pick Up and Laydown(PULD), Roll cast
- Increase line length/distance, error correction.
- Braai: 12h00 + see the most famous Boerewors Roll Cast demonstration. Serias fun!
Notes:
- Please note that this is a group casting clinic and individual one-on-one time may be limited. Your patience and understanding in this regard is appreciated.
- As a club, members we have the opportunity to learn from each other. If you have some particular skill…please share.
- One-on-one lessons can be booked with the instructors by separate arrangement.
- Be punctual as exercises builds on each other.
- No flies please. Remember your windbreaker, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and something to drink and snack.
- The casting instructors are not necessarily better casters than you but are trained in observing, identifying and correcting common casting mistakes to improve your casting experience.
- Observers are welcome.
- There is plenty of time after the formal sessions to cast on your own, try out new tackle, ask questions etc.
- The casting clinic is run by volunteers and the instructors runs on liquid refreshments!
The cost of the clinic is free for club members. Non-members pays R200.00 but will only be allowed if there is space available.
